/j/ Sound Spelled J Word List

The /j/ sound has several spellings, j, g, ge, dge, dg, and dj.

The "j" spelling is found almost exclusively at the beginning of words or chunks. It is rarely an ending.

Of the 7,000 words in the database constructed from a popular children’s dictionary, 100 of them are one-syllable words with the /j/ sound spelled "j'.

Note on the word divisions: Each word is divided into chunks determined by the unique and effective OnTrack Reading Multisyllable Method. The chunks are not syllables.
